Yaser S. Abu-Mostafa
Dr. Yaser S. Abu-Mostafa is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). His main fields of expertise are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computational Finance (CF), and medical applications of AI. He is one of the pioneers of Neural Networks in the 1980s, and the author of Amazon's bestseller "Learning from Data". His online course on Machine Learning (ML) has attracted more than 8 million views. Dr. Abu-Mostafa received the Clauser Prize for the most original doctoral thesis at Caltech. He received the Caltech undergraduate and graduate teaching awards 5 times, and the Richard P. Feynman prize. He is the co-founder of the annual conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS/NeurIPS), the top international ML conference. Hertz Foundation established a perpetual graduate fellowship named the Abu-Mostafa Fellowship in his honor. Dr. Abu-Mostafa has numerous technical publications including 3 articles in Scientific American, as well as keynote lectures at various international conferences. He founded a number of start-up companies and served on the Scientific Advisory Board for several corporations.
